Gastronomy

The Lot and Dordogne region is known for its rich culinary traditions and offers a great opportunity to taste local products during special tastings. Both areas offer a diverse range of wines, cheeses, saffron, charcuterie, truffles and other local specialities.

Lot region

Wine

The Lot valley is known for its Cahors wines, especially the Malbec grape. Tastings of these hearty, dark red wines are often offered at local wineries.

Cheese

The region is famous for its goat cheese, such as Cabécou, or Rocamadour, a creamy cheese often served with honey or walnuts.

Charcuterie

Lot has a rich tradition of charcuterie, with local sausages and house-dried ham. We are happy to present these on our drinks boards.

Truffles

Truffle markets and festivals take place in autumn, where you can taste the region’s famous truffles.

Dordogne region

Mushrooms

The region is rich in wild mushrooms, such as cepes, girolles and truffles. There are often truffle or mushroom tastings in autumn.

Walnuts

The Dordogne region is also famous for its walnuts, which are often used in both sweet and savoury dishes. Walnut liqueur is a local speciality.

Foie gras

One of Dordogne’s best-known products is foie gras. Many farms offer tastings where you can taste this delicacy in different forms.
